Adult Fitness Equipment:work starts 26 November 2012

NEWS UPDATE, 26th November. – Adult Exercise Equipment
Despite strong opposition from many citizens and ratepayers as well as from this Society,
the majority (5-3) of the Kaipatiki Local Board effectively ‘thumbed their noses’ at the very sound and reasoned cases put before them.

The result is that the equipment, which hardly anyone wants on the open space chosen by the Board, is about to be installed. Preparatory work was done today and it seems likely that construction may begin tomorrow (Tuesday).

In case any of you wish to take further action (e.g. sending a note of your displeasure at the action of the Board) the five members who voted to do this are:

Lindsay Waugh (Chair): lindsay.waugh@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz
Nick Kearney (deputy Chair): nick.kearney@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz
Kay McIntyre:kay.mcintyre@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz
Chris Marshall: chris.marshall@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz
Richard Hills: richard.hills@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz

Another action which the Society took was to seek information under the Official Information Act to see who directed that the necessary Resource Consent required for these works was non-notified which prevented everyone (whether in favour or against the work) from making an input.

Our request under the OIA was denied by Council.
